FAQs

WHAT IS COLD PROCESS SOAP?

Cold process soap is a traditional method of making soap by combining oils (animal or plant-based) with a sodium hydroxide/lye solution. The chemical reaction between the oils and lye is called saponification. Additional ingredients such as fragrance oils, essential oils, and colorants can also be added. Saponification takes 24-48 hours, and...Viola! You have soap!

An additional cure time of 4-6 weeks after saponification is essential. Cure time allows left over water to evaporate from the soap, creating a harder, longer lasting bar! All Sunrise Lane soaps are cured for 4-6 weeks.

WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE USED?

Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, and Castor Oil are the stars of Sunrise Lane Soap. I also use mica colorants, clays, a variety of fragrance oils, essential oils, or a blend of both. We attempt to source our ingredients from reputable distributors. All micas, clays, and fragrance oils are sourced from reputable soap websites, such as Brambleberry and Nurture Soap.

WHY DOES MY SOAP LOOK DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE LISTED?

Due to the handmade nature of the products presented, the items may have a slight variation in appearance.

HOW DO I USE AND CARE FOR MY SOAP?

It is important to keep your bar of soap dry between uses. This will significantly extend the life span of your bar. Store it on a well-draining soap dish or lift. This will prevent the bar from sitting in a pool of water, leading to a mushy soap and potentially shortening the life span of the bar.

Soap is for external use only. Please be aware of any ingredients/allergens that could affect you. Always test the soap on a small area of skin. If irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult your physician.
